The end of the world

Thrifted sweater; H&M tee; Hue leggings; Sperry shoes
Jacobs by Marc Jacobs tote; Burberry sunglasses

I love this location. It's overgrown, abandoned-looking, and while wandering around you almost forget that you're in NYC -- then you look across the river. That view! What I wouldn't give to wake up every morning to that endless skyline. Oh Williamsburg, why do you taunt me so.

Long Island City

American Apparel raglan; Gap jeans; Jacobs by Marc Jacobs (etc. etc.) bag;
Minnetonka moccasins; Burberry sunglasses

Back from another long blog break, and it's a whole new season! Leaves are changing colors, there's a chill in the air, and my diet consists solely of pumpkin-flavored foods... it must be Fall!

Currently Craving: Simplicity

I'm back! Well, no promises. My new job is all consuming, and I only just got a few moments this afternoon to shop for the first time in what felt like forever! Of course I fell in love with a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Rumi boots (pictured above) at LF, but they are nowhere to be found in stores or online in a size 6. Sigh. No worries, I drown my sorrows and drained my bank account at several other stores to make up for the lost boots.

Hope you're all having a great weekend! Will you be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow? Or will you be on the hunt for Jason Wu for Target? Either way, hope you enjoy!

Show a lil skin

Tee: Elizabeth & James
Skirt: Forever 21
Socks: Ozone
Boots: Nine West
Jewelry: Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet,
F21 rings, gifts from BF, etc.

I'm really into this new photo editing option that makes your pictures look yellowed and vintage, I promise not to use it too much but I just couldn't resist playing around with it. Yea, I'm a geek like that. Anyhow, this outfit isn't really special in any way except for the socks - I love these socks! I got them from Ozone Socks and have worn them several times already because they go with almost everything in my mostly black/white/grey wardrobe. They're really comfortable and actually stay up above my knee without sliding down, which is usually a huge problem with thigh-high socks and one of the main reasons I don't wear them more often. But these socks, I love! I especially love their psychedelic print that makes me dizzy if I stare at it for too long.

The Other Face of Ashley Olsen

Work it! Ashley Olsen posed for the camera and chatted with Marc Jacobs for the latest issue of V MAN - check out just a few quotes from the interview below:

On doing a "celebrity line": "The way I look at it, I had a career as a child. I had a career in an industry in which the media kind of... they're obsessed with the young girl thing. But when I turned 18, I moved to New York, and I haven't really done anything to be a celebrity. I've been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I'm choosing for myself - to be a part of the fashion industry... the outside perception is very different because you do have celebrity brands, people like Jessica Simpson and Kimora Lee Simmons, and those are celebrity brands because they have their names on them."

On working with Mary-Kate: "The Row is really something that I'm doing while my sister still wants to focus on acting. She's my partner in The Row, but she trusts me with the every day. I mean, I see her like ten times a day."

On being different from her twin sister: "When I was 14, 15, 16, 17, it was harder because the two of us were still very similar. We had to work through what's special about us, and then the media had to work through it... I've never been one to engage the media to say that I'm different. I actually did the opposite and I totally went internal. I was like, "See y'all!" I want to be behind the scenes, and I don't want people to know anything about my personal life. I have a job, I take it very seriously, and I work really hard."

Currently Craving: Colors!

Silence & Noise Fleece Moto Jacket
Emma Cook for Topshop Boots
Marc by Marc Jacobs Floating Lotus Print Dress
Free People Striped Romper

Look ma, no black (or grey)! Everything I'm craving this week is in color! Well, if we can count white as a color... The Emma Cook boots had to be included though, because my obsession was renewed when I saw a picture of them in Nitrolicious's review of the Topshop opening in NYC (they're in the 5th picture down). Evidently they're all gone from the NYC store already, and presumably gone forever :( Oh well, I'll be stalking Ebay for these babies! How amazing would they look paired with that M by MJ flower-print dress? I've been fantasizing about wearing just that look all week! And I could throw on that blue Silence & Noise jacket if I get a little bit chilly... perfection! I'm not sure where the Free People romper fits in to this fantasy, I just really liked it!

Backstage at Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W 09.10

Runway fashions you could actually see yourself wearing in the real world? Ya don't say. The Marc by Marc Jacobs F/W 09.10 show at New York Fashion Week was full of separates that will be flying off the racks next year, due to their immense wearability (is that a word?). There was even legit winter boots mixed in - no super-high heel, no crazy lacing or straps, just flat, waterproof, chic winter boots! Much better than your old Sorel's, don't you think?

However, my favorite part of looking through pictures from the show was the bags. Supple leather, functional designs, rich colors - they're everything you could want in an investment piece! Everyone is talking about the economy and how we need to be spending wisely, well, any of these bags would definitely be a wise investment! The designs are timeless, and I could see these bags looking just as chic 10 years from now!

Also of note are the accessories - I love the bow bracelet in the above picture, I wonder if that couldn't be a nice DIY project for a more talented individual than myself? Calling all Etsy designers! There was also adorable hats (that I could definitely see on Ms. Blair Waldorf), crazy tights paired with oversized wool socks, and scarves of different shapes and sizes.

This collection is very Marc Jacobs, and many people (at least on TFS) have argued that it is better than the Marc Jacobs main line show a few days ago. I think there is a place for both shows, as the lines are so different (and so differently priced!). I really loved the crazy neons and metallics of the Marc Jacobs show, but I can see myself actually saving up and buying more pieces from this Marc by Marc Jacobs show. What do you think? Do you prefer the Marc Jacobs F/W collection or this Marc by Marc Jacobs one? Any favorite pieces? Be sure to check out the entire collection at Style.com.

NY, I Love You: Marc Jacobs F/W 09.10

Oh Marc, you've stolen my heart again with your gaudy, over-the-top, '80s clubbing-inspired runway collection last night at New York Fashion Week. Marc said that while designing this collection, he was "thinking about the good old days in New York, when getting dressed up was such a joy". He's definitely captured that joy in this collection! I love the colors - just because we're in a recession doesn't mean designers can only use black and white. It is so refreshing to see not just pops of color here and there, but an entire collection revolving around bright neons and shiny metallics. I can see many younger fashion-obsessed girls, like myself, saving paycheck after paycheck to be able to afford some of these pieces. And I definitely predict many of these looks filtering down to high street stores like Topshop and H&M (for those of us who may not be able to go a year eating only Ramen in order to afford that bright yellow cape below!). Check out the whole collection at Style, and a video of the show below - what do you think? Are you done with '80s-inspired looks, or do you think Marc has reinvisioned the decade in a fresh new way that is worthwhile?

Currently Craving: Black + Zippers

Cool, Casual by Slow and Stead Wins the Race Mesh Sweatshirt
Daisy Marc Jacobs Perfume
Cocobelle Bahia Zip Thong Sandal
Alexander Wang Flare Zip Jeans
Deux Lux Backpack Messenger Bag
Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain Swarovski Crystal Sandals

Well, today's Currently Craving has 2 themes: black and zippers. And I threw in that Marc Jacobs perfume because I love the look of the bottle in black, isn't it lovely? Another random thought - I wonder if those Alexander Wang jeans unzip into 2 separate pieces? If anyone has them or has tried them on, let me know! Because that would be unnecessary, but kind of awesome. Oh, and before you get too excited about the Zanotti/Balmain shoes (I know I was), I should warn you, they are $1,745. *Sigh*.

Marc by Marc Jacobs at Gilt Group

The Marc by Marc Jacobs clothes, shoes, and accessories sale just began at noon today at Gilt Group, with prices up to 70% off retail. I definitely have my eye on a couple of things, but gotta act quick, because Gilt tends to sell out the popular pieces pretty early. I'm off to shop - let me know if you pick up anything at the sale! Also, if you have any problems with the link or joining Gilt, just leave a comment with your email address and I will send you a private invitation!

Electric Slide

Haven't you heard? Color is in - the brighter, the better. About time! I have noticed that I've become stuck in a rut of wearing only whites, greys, and blacks for so many seasons, and I'm sick of it! Bring on the neon! I know, I know, this trend could get a little '80s on us, but luckily designers are using neon colors in a modern way that makes the clothes feel very now, and not so dated (like they easily could be). Do you think you'll be incorporating neon colors into your wardrobe this spring? Let me know if you go for those lime jeans from Tripp (pictured below)!

Parisian Perhaps?

Hat: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Necklaces: Margo Morrison + Heart Necklace from BF
Long Tank Top: Gap
Cardigan + Tights: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Nine West Cuzza

I had my boyfriend take a quick outfit pic before we left to go meet up with some friends for coffee and a movie. We saw Seven Pounds with Will Smith, which I absolutely loved, but it is really intense for basically the whole movie so I'm kind of exhausted. Also, I'm sorry about the red eye and the overall quality of a lot of the pictures I take, my camera is in the process of dying and I'm just too busy/poor to get a new one. As soon as I get back to school though I will be trying to teach myself how to use Photoshop! So expect me to be less red-eyed and possibly 10lbs lighter in future pictures (just kidding about the 10lbs... maybe?).
