The shape of things to come

StyleMint tee; Car Mar shorts from LF; Jeffrey Campbell boots

Sorry for the auto-timer outfit-pic-in-the-hallway, I know it's oh so bootleg, but maybe we can just pretend it's a tribute to the early days of fashion blogging? My photographer/BF is overworked and underpaid in a job that's two hours away from where we live, so he has no time to take the gorgeous outdoors photos of years past. So for now, I hope this will suffice!

Mostly I just wanted to show off the shorts I scored at the LF sale a few weeks ago. Since moving to NY, LF has quickly become my favorite store in the city - I can't go in there without finding at least 10 pieces I can't live without!

The tee is from StyleMint - are you guys members yet? It's the best, gotta love affordable fashions by MKA.

And my hair, can't forget that - I went ombre since I last blogged, and I'll never go back to monotone hair again! I'm already imagining all the other fun color-combinations I can ombre into my hair next!

Currently Craving: Simplicity

I'm back! Well, no promises. My new job is all consuming, and I only just got a few moments this afternoon to shop for the first time in what felt like forever! Of course I fell in love with a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Rumi boots (pictured above) at LF, but they are nowhere to be found in stores or online in a size 6. Sigh. No worries, I drown my sorrows and drained my bank account at several other stores to make up for the lost boots.

Hope you're all having a great weekend! Will you be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow? Or will you be on the hunt for Jason Wu for Target? Either way, hope you enjoy!

A day in the life

Thrifted Club Monaco sweatshirt; Target Xhileration skinny jeans; Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots;
Ancient old Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker bag

I took these pictures over the course of a day in the life of an unemployed NYC girl (but hopefully not for much longer!). After messing around taking pics in the hallway of our apartment building, the BF and I decided to walk downtown to check out the Christmas decorations in midtown -- this may or may not have been a horrible decision considering I was wearing 6-inch-high heels. Still, Manhattan is beautiful this time of the year, and the Christmas lights were (almost) enough to make me forget the pain in my feet!

Leaves and Lita

H&M dress; Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots; Vintage Chanel bag

Fall is finally here! I love when there's a chill in the air, the leaves start changing colors, and I can finally break out my favorite leopard maxi dress! Of course it's about 6 inches too long on me (another drawback of being short), but that just necessitates the wearing of my favorite shoes as well. If this outfit was appropriate to wear everywhere, I would!

Also guys, don't forget that tomorrow is 11-11-11! I'm not sure what that signifies but I hope it's something good - I have a job interview that day for a position I desperately want, and I need all the good omens I can get!

Time Out

Nally & Millie tank; Free People shorts; Jeffrey Campbell Nation boots; Diane von Furstenberg sunglasses;
Balenciaga bag; Vintage necklace and belt

Summer is definitely here! How are my fellow New Yorkers dealing with this insane heat? It's supposed to hit 103 degrees tomorrow, and I have no plans for leaving my air conditioned apartment! I can use the time out though, I've been running around like crazy these past few days. I saw Questlove DJ at a party in the Lower East Side, thrifted in Brooklyn, ate a burrito from the Korilla BBQ truck for the first time (delicious!), and almost got conned into a creepy psych study at Columbia University (they wanted to give me tranquilizers mixed with alcohol... um, no thanks). So a few days off is sounding nice right about now!

This tank top is courtesy of Nally & Millie and is the most comfortable thing ever, especially when it's so very hot out.
Nally & Millie's current collection of cotton tees are flowing, drapy, and loose, just how I like them! Be sure to check out the Nally & Millie Facebook and follow them on Twitter!

Festival High

I'm not entirely sold on "flatforms" but these ones by Jeffrey Campbell have me wanting to
at least try on a pair. They do seem comfortable, right? Definitely the kind of shoes you could slop around in all summer without killing your feet too badly. But what do you all think about flatforms - awesome or awful? Have I just been so overexposed to them that I've lost my mind?

PS - Happy Easter to those who celebrate it!

Winding path

Thrifted sweater; Mavi jeans from Ideeli; Jeffrey Campbell Nation boots; Vintage necklaces;
Foley + Corinna bag; Forever 21 and Vintage rings; Burberry sunglasses

The weather is so bipolar lately! Sunny one day, snowing the next. But I'm pretty sure I talk about the weather wayyyyy too much on this blog.

This past weekend was one of the best in a while - for shopping! I scored a $2 Miu Miu dress, won a free pair of Hudson jeans on Twitter, and found and bought my new favorite shorts with the Lord & Taylor Friends and Family discount. I think I'm set on clothes for a while! So of course I've moved on to shoes. Currently lusting after these tribal print sandals from Free People and the perfect ankle boots by Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. Here's hoping I can find some ridiculous discount for those babies!

Brick Walls, Crochet, and Boots

H&M sweater / jacket; Hollister crochet top; Thick knit leggings (no tag);
Jeffrey Campbell Nation boots (available at
Solestruck)

Hi guys! First off I want to thank you all for your styling tips for my ebay-ed dress, I can't wait to try them out! Love you guys :)

I wore this outfit the night before my BF's birthday when we went out for celebratory Indian food. You've seen the H&M sweater/jacket before here, but I think it's the first time I've posted the crochet top from Hollister. I remember I found this top squished in the very back of one of those clearance shelves in Hollister, marked only $5 - I couldn't believe it! Definitely one of my favorite mall-store buys. These Jeffrey Campbell Nation boots are quickly becoming my staple shoes, they are remarkably comfortable and each time I wear them they mold to my feet more and more. If you're on the fence about buying them, I recommend you go for it!

My Name Necklace

Free People dress (available at Shopbop and Karmaloop); MyNameNecklace.com "Ashley" necklace;
Hue tights; Jeffrey Campbell Litas from
Solestruck
; Vintage Levi's denim jacket

I've always been a huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw's "Carrie" necklace on Sex and the City, so when I was contacted by MyNameNecklace.com to review a name necklace of my own, I was ecstatic! I chose the sterling silver name necklace with a chain length of 18" - the necklaces also come in 18k gold plated, 14k gold, and white gold, with lengths of 14", 16", 18", 20", and 22", and are custom made to order. I've already worn mine just about every day since I received it! I love the length, it's perfect to layer with other necklaces or just wear on its own, and it's a great conversation piece - a few people have already asked me where I got it from. The necklaces are affordable too, so if you've ever wanted to have your own "Carrie" necklace be sure to check out MyNameNecklace.com!

Happy Friday everybody! Hope you all have a great weekend! I just wanted to share a few pictures from the second day of my Valentine's wine tasting, and announce the winner of the Foley + Corinna bag giveaway! So without further ado, the winner is..... Katie of Fashion's Maven! Congrats Katie, and enjoy!

Now I'm off to take full advantage of this almost 60 degree day in the middle of February!

Buffet

Thrifted blazer; H&M tee; Grey jeans from Macy's; Jeffrey Campbell Lita's from Solestruck;
Dream Mullick necklace; Amrita Singh and Forever 21 rings

I took these pictures last night after devouring multiple plates of food at an Indian buffet. Bhatura is worth the million hours on the elliptical needed to burn off the calories! Anyway, I'm sure I lost a few standing in the cold taking these pictures without a jacket on. I'll let you know if I have the flu in a few days! :)

PS - I have an incredible giveaway coming up this Friday, be sure to check back for it! Hint, it involves a well-known and loved designer label(!!)

One more time

Thrifted sweater; J'adore Dior tank; Navajo Stripe leggings from Nasty Gal; Jeffrey Campbell
Nation boots from
Shopbop; Rayban sunglasses; Urban Outfitters hat; Paul & Joe for Target bag

Hi guys! It's me again, standing in the snow in my favorite leggings from Nasty Gal (Xmas gift from the BF, doesn't he have good taste?) and my over-worn sweater. I took these pictures this morning, but maybe I should've waited until this next snowpocalypse blows through. We're supposed to get around 14 inches of snow and ice tonight, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit excited. I'm looking forward to a night of reading blogs and drinking way too much hot chocolate!

Long pause

Forever 21 shearling jacket; Thrifted sweater; Current/Elliott jeans;
Jeffrey Campbell Litas from
Solestruck; Surell fur earmuffs from TJ Maxx

More snow pictures, this time with a little bit of sunlight! These earmuffs made it all possible – I don't know how I'd have gotten through the past few days of zero degree windchills without them!

I've been on a bit of a shopping spree lately thanks to some surprise gift card wins. I purchased this Free People dress at Lord & Taylor the other day and these Jeffrey Campbell boots on Shopbop this morning. I still have a $50 ebay gift card to burn courtesy of Couture Carrie – any suggestions for good ebay stores to check out? Thanks guys!
