The Outnet 2nd Birthday Sale!

TJ Maxx Summer Fashion Finds

Today I stopped in TJ Maxx to pick up some shampoo (do you know they sell Jonathan, Rusk, and other hair care brands for less than half the price they are in salons? It's amazing!), and ended up with a cart full of summer dresses, tanks, and shorts - I can never go in there and come out with just one thing! TJ Maxx offers the same designer brands as department stores and boutiques, but for up to 60% less! TJ Maxx has their whole summer stock out right now, and it is good! Racks of bathing suits, coverups, sunglasses, sundresses, and hats greeted me when I first walked in, and of course I fell victim to their siren songs. I have pictured just a few things I tried on, but trust me, if I had unlimited funds I would've bought out half the store today! Happy Birthday to The Outnet!

Did any of you partake in The Outnet's 1st birthday sale this morning? At 6:45am EST, emails were sent out to those who had signed up for the sale weeks ago, and within a few minutes all of the $1 designer items were sold out! After having stayed up all night, with the help of Twitter friends Martika and Dani, I was able to score the Marchesa dress pictured above for just $1 (originally $3160!!!). Let me know what you got, or if you weren't able to score anything, vent your frustrations over this ridiculously early flash sale - I want to hear your thoughts!

Christmas Shopping with TJ Maxx

Sorry for the long absence from blogging! I was on a whirlwind trip to New York City these past few days, courtesy of the wonderful people at TJ Maxx and Rocket XL! So before I even begin to tell you all about it, I must thank TJ Maxx and Rocket XL - particularly Victoria - for putting together such an amazing event in such little time! Thank you all!

The reason that a handful of bloggers, including myself, were invited to New York during the holiday season was to prove to us that all of our holiday shopping can be done at TJ Maxx. I was a bit skeptical at first, as any slightly-snobby shopper like myself would be, but I have to say that I have been converted! TJ Maxx had everything for everyone on my list!

At the TJ Maxx Red Carpet Shopping event this past Thursday morning, us bloggers got tips from superstar stylist Alison Deyette on how to find exactly what we're looking for at TJ Maxx. Alison explained that despite popular belief, all styles in TJ Maxx are current season (unless otherwise clearly marked), they are not defective, and nothing is close to expiration. TJ Maxx ends up with such great designer brands not because they were leftovers or rejects, but because the designers simply overestimated how many to send to department stores and boutiques. Therefore, you can find the exact same piece at the exact same time in a department store as you can at TJ Maxx! The only difference is the price!

After the presentation, we were let loose to find our own bargains in TJ Maxx! I ended up in the "Runway" section of the store, scouring through racks of discounted designer clothes straight of the runway. I left the store with a gorgeous Valentino blouse that I'll definitely be showing off in an outfit post very very soon!

Not only did I learn a ton about TJ Maxx (and become a believer!), I also met some amazing bloggers! I got to hang out with the sweet and beautiful Erika of Fashion Chalet, Lee of My Sentiment ExactLee, Julia of Fashion Pulse Daily, and so many more! It was so wonderful meeting you all, and I hope I can make it down to the city for more events like this in the future!

It's the most wonderful time of the year

To be honest with you all, I'm a little sad that I'm not going back to school this coming September. Having just graduated, I can't excuse any excessive August spending as back-to-school shopping! But I know a lot of you still can, so in honor of my lucky readers who are still in school, I wanted to point you in the right direction for some cute and affordable back-to-school styles... at Marshalls!

I know Marshalls may not be the first place you'd think of when looking for stylish, current fashions, but they have really been stepping their game up lately! I reviewed the new CUBE boutiques that are popping up in Marshalls stores everywhere back in May, but Marshalls didn't stop their revamping at that! In fact, they went a step further and hired the great Art Conn, stylist on American Idol, to re-create popular styles using fall fashions found at Marshalls, inspired by American Idol, Twilight, and (my favorite) Gossip Girl! The American Idol look is rocker-chic, the Twilight look is grungy (think flannel, torn up jeans, all those 90's trends that are back), and the Gossip Girl look is, of course, preppy. So no matter how you want to look on that first day back to school, Marshalls will have something for you! And at ridiculously good prices too! These looks are filtering in to Marshalls stores every day, so be sure to stop by your local store (check here for locations) to scoop up that hot leather jacket above and the adorable Gossip Girl-inspired blazer below!

CUBE-ism

Do you guys remember Kelly? Kelly of "Oh-My-God Shoes" fame? If you haven't seen that video, you have to watch it. It defined my sophomore year of college (just a warning, there is some potty mouth language in the "Shoes" video). Well, Kelly is back! This time Kelly is working with the Marshalls CUBE boutiques for her newest song "What R U Guys Talking About". You can check out the new Kelly song in the widget below:

I'm obviously very susceptible to advertising, because I hadn't been to a Marshalls in a while, but the not-so-subliminal messages in the "What R U Guys Talking About" video worked on me and I just had to go to the CUBE as soon as I finished watching the video! I'm an easy target, huh? But man was I glad I went! First off, the new CUBE boutique in Marshalls is amazing. All of my favorite designers were in one place, easy to find, and neatly laid out. I had no idea how high end Marshalls had gotten either! In the shoe section, I had a serious Oh-My-God Shoes moment when I spotted a pair of Sam Edelman wedges at 50% off! Next up was the jeans, where I spotted some Seven's, Juicy Couture's, and Ed Hardy's at ridiculously low prices. However, what sold me once and for all on the CUBE was a pair of this-seasons Burberry sunglasses for 70% off. I kid you not, these sunglasses are currently on the Burberry website for $200, and at the CUBE they were just $60. I don't know how Marshalls does it, but I like it! Yves Saint Laurent Sale on Rue La La Tomorrow!

Thank you all for your well wishes, you're all so sweet! I'm still feeling pretty sick, I laid in bed most of today, but I just had to muster up the strength to let you all know that there is a YSL sale at Rue La La tomorrow (Friday) starting at 11am! The preview picture for the sale shows a bag, sunglasses, and most importantly, SHOES! How amazing would it be to get a pair of those babies on sale? Christian Siriano for Payless

Christian Siriano, the winner of season 4 of Project Runway, debuted his shoe collaboration with Payless at his NY Fashion Week runway show a few days ago. The shoes are slated for release in September 2009, and will be available at approximately 10% of Payless stores and online at Payless.com with prices ranging from $25-$45. The shoes, as well as his F/W 09.10 Ready-to-Wear clothing collection, were inspired by Egyptian landscapes:

Each of the five shoe styles - with creative names like Slither, Saunter, SheDevil, Sand Strap and Strut - feature Christian's unique chunky conical heel designed to look like an inverted pyramid. Handbags - the Shanbag tote and Sassafras clutch - coordinate with the footwear silhouettes: two ankle booties and three hidden platform pumps, with accents of pyramid studs and draped chains. Rich materials such as shiny dark brown snakeskin and Egyptian hieroglyphic teal fabric also echo Christian's Egyptian inspiration. (Examiner)

Above are pics of the shoes shown at Christian's runway show, so it is expected that these are the exact shoes that will be sold at Payless in September. What do you think of them? I am glad that Christian stuck to his aesthetic and wasn't bullied by Payless to create "safer" shoes - I really love these designs, but they're pretty out-there compared to the shoes you normally find at Payless. My favorites are the brown peep-toes with the chains in the top-right and the brown pumps with the chains and pyramid studs in the bottom-middle, and the brown ankle boots are a great staple piece for any shoe collection. I can't believe they'll be just $25-$45! September is much too far away.

Bleached-Out Jeans: A trend you can afford to buy into

I found the best deal on bleached-out jeans at Macy's today - Grane Jeans, originally just $29.99 (cheap enough!), on sale for $19.99, then another 20% off. Check them out in the picture above - I took it with my cell phone so the color is a little off, but you get the idea. If you like the style of bleached out jeans, but don't have the time to do it yourself or want to drop too much money on a fleeting trend, these are the jeans to get. I searched all over the Macy's website and couldn't find them, so you're going to have to go to the store, but it's worth the trip for such a price. I didn't buy them, because I didn't really love how they looked on me - I think they would've looked better with my high heeled boots on - but they're definitely worth trying on if you're a fan of the style, and they have stretch in them so they're actually really comfortable. If you don't live near a Macy's or don't particularly like this style of bleached out jeans, I found a few other versions of the trend online that you can check out!
