First off, I have to give a huge thank you to Mimi, Liesbeth, and Luna for commenting on my last blog post - I know I've been a horrible blogger and it means so much to me that you guys have stuck around and still follow my posts. Thank you!

This pic was taken during the 4th of July weekend while wandering around Williamsburg with my boyfriend. As mentioned in my last post, it has been ridiculously hot in the city, so these pants have become another clothing staple. When I found them on the clearance rack at Free People I knew they had to be mine, despite the fact that they were about a foot too long. After a quick (semi-sloppy) hacking job at home, they're now the perfect fit!

Lately all of my days have been blending together. I've settled into a routine of waking up, drinking coffee, checking email (and getting sad about having no responses to my job applications), and bumming around. I clearly need a job, or at least some sort of direction in life. Isn't the economy supposed to be back on the upswing, or is that just a lie I've been telling myself?

Anyways, I'm always happy when I'm able to break out of the routine and go do something semi-exciting, like when the BF and I went to the Erie Canal the other day. The canal isn't filled yet, so the water level is really low and you can truly see how much garbage is in it, but it was still kind of beautiful in its own way. Plus there was a little boy feeding ducks with his mom, which I thought was absolutely adorable.

Yesterday's temperature hit 90 degrees. Honestly, 90 degrees! In the beginning of April! It beat the record high in my city by 10 degrees. You best believe I've got summer fever now! In an attempt to cool down, the BF and I drove down to Canadaigua Lake.

The lake was absolutely gorgeous, and there was a really nice breeze rolling in off the water so the BF and I didn't get completely soaked in sweat while walking around. I think the heat was driving a few people to insanity though, as I saw more than one person jump into the lake completely clothed. I'm not sure how exactly they planned to drive home in soaking wet jeans...

What is it like where you live? Have you been experiencing this crazy heat wave? And what are you doing to keep cool?

Take a wild guess as to who I was for Halloween... Holly Golightly, of course! I was having the hardest time deciding what to be, going from Cowgirl to American Apparel Ad to Lady Gaga (oh my gosh everyone was Lady Gaga!), but when I found this dress at Target it was decided - I *had* to be Holly Golightly! I already had the pearls and tiara and gloves, so it worked out excellently. What did you all go as for Halloween? And if you have pictures post links to them, I love seeing everyone all dressed up, it's the best part of Halloween (even better than the candy!).

I'm sorry to post back-to-back outfit pictures of myself, I know I'm being lazy! But I promise I have way more interesting posts coming up, so stick with me! I took these pictures earlier this morning because for some unknown reason I woke up super early, but it was worth it because I caught a few minutes of sunshine! I have to appreciate the sun while I can, because winter in upstate = no sun.

Inspired by this weeks weardrobe contest, when I woke up this morning I sought to put together an outfit that could transition from the daytime, playing with my 7 month old niece, to the nighttime, out with the BF. I picked this oversized shirt from H&M to wear as a dress (I got it in a size 12 so I could do just that!) and some comfy flat sandals for the day - comfort is key when crawling around on the floor with a baby. Threw on a neckfull of chain necklaces, shiny leggings, and my knockoff Wang fringe boots and I had an acceptable nighttime look!

On a completely different note, a week or so ago I got interviewed for the thisnext blog. They asked some great, totally unique questions (I had to write a haiku about myself, that sure brought back memories from middle school!), so if you want to check that out it's posted here.

Trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather while it's here! Yesterday the BF and I went down to the river, walked around and took in the beautiful (albeit small) skyline of our little city. We had some sushi and took pictures, and I even got a few compliments on my shoes! They are surprisingly comfortable, considering the height. If anyone is interested, they're still available at NineWest.com.

I'm pretty exhausted right now, so I'm just going to summarize my thoughts into bullet points.

• I am becoming addicted to weardrobe.com, you have to check it out, the ladies on that site are so talented at putting together outfits, plus there are weekly contests to win $50 giftcards to stores like Urban Outfitters and American Apparel (and if you're already on weardrobe, friend me!)
  
• My new shoes got delivered today, Nine West Ciraco's, and I love them so so much. I also got another new pair of shoes a week or two ago, lace-up flat sandals from Target, which I also love. I have too many black sandals. But I'm sure I'll buy even more this summer.
• I saw the movie "Observe and Report" yesterday with my BF at the dollar movie theater, and wow, it was just terrible. But I've heard "The Hangover" is really funny, so we might go see that this weekend to cleanse the pallet.
• Also this weekend is my 5 year high school reunion. Have any of you gone to a high school reunion? I have no idea what to expect, I'm a little nervous about it because I haven't kept in touch with very many people from my high school. But it's a cocktail party, so the free drinks should put everyone at ease!
• I miss having long hair. Any suggestions on how to make your hair grow faster?
  

CUBE-ism

Do you guys remember Kelly? Kelly of "Oh-My-God Shoes" fame? If you haven't seen that video, you have to watch it. It defined my sophomore year of college (just a warning, there is some potty mouth language in the "Shoes" video). Well, Kelly is back! This time Kelly is working with the Marshalls CUBE boutiques for her newest song "What R U Guys Talking About". You can check out the new Kelly song in the widget below:

I'm obviously very susceptible to advertising, because I hadn't been to a Marshalls in a while, but the not-so-subliminal messages in the "What R U Guys Talking About" video worked on me and I just had to go to the CUBE as soon as I finished watching the video! I'm an easy target, huh? But man was I glad I went! First off, the new CUBE boutique in Marshalls is amazing. All of my favorite designers were in one place, easy to find, and neatly laid out. I had no idea how high end Marshalls had gotten either! In the shoe section, I had a serious Oh-My-God Shoes moment when I spotted a pair of Sam Edelman wedges at 50% off! Next up was the jeans, where I spotted some Seven's, Juicy Couture's, and Ed Hardy's at ridiculously low prices. However, what sold me once and for all on the CUBE was a pair of this-seasons Burberry sunglasses for 70% off. I kid you not, these sunglasses are currently on the Burberry website for $200, and at the CUBE they were just $60. I don't know how Marshalls does it, but I like it! The imminence of Spring is making me want to break out my old polo shirts, pop the collars, and go horseback riding or golfing or something like that. Is that an awful confession to make? It's probably not something I should admit on a fashion blog, especially one like this that is so dominated by the leather/dark/studded trends. Maybe it's because the market has been oversaturated by the rocker look, but for whatever reason these clean and preppy designs are really satisfying to me right now - especially the crisp khaki pants and abundance of plaid. So Spring-y and fresh!
