Three Blondes Jewelry

Three Blondes is a jewelry line established in 2008 by Summer Rej and Jennifer Meyers. Both raised in NYC, the girls have created a collection of jewelry and accessories that reflect the city they call home. The pieces mesh Upper East Side delicate beauty with Downtown-style chunky chains and oversized crystals, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that really are like no other jewelry you own! Already featured on VogueTV and The Fashion Spot, Three Blondes is an up-and-coming label that you're going to want to get to know!

A few months ago I was offered the opportunity to check out the gorgeous jewelry and accessories of Three Blondes, as well as interview the designers, Summer and Jen. The lovely ladies sent over "The Independent", a gorgeous black crystal and gold necklace, and "The Gala", black crochet gloves with intricate gold beading (both seen above). They were also kind enough to answer a bunch of questions - read on to learn more about Three Blondes Jewelry!

How did you two meet, and how did you decide to create a line of jewelry together?
We met our freshman year of high school when we attended The Calhoun School in New York. We
bonded in English class, sharing notes and study questions, but also chatting over clothes we had just picked up from little boutiques near Calhoun - this was back in 1999, when our closets included Miss Sixty, Buggirl, Steve Madden (we both had multiple pairs of the same shoes!), ANY logo tees by Junk Food, Paul Frank or E.Vil, with some Kate Spade or Prada accessories and brands such as Tocca mixed in. We ultimately became the best of friends. We formed a small t-shirt company (imagine lots of logos and embellishments) while we were in college and realized we worked well as business partners, brainstorm ideas that we both believe in, and listen to each others opinions. We also gained experience working internships and jobs in the fashion and art communities which inspired us to create something of our own which would serve as a creative outlet. We also have tons of fun and laughs working together, which is necessary to counter the hard work and endless hours that go into running a business, especially when you are executing each component on your own, as we are. We realized that there was such room for creativity within the world of jewelry and accessories. Since jewelry and hair accessories have always been wardrobe staples of the utmost importance to each of us, we decided to parlay our efforts in that direction. Years later, we're still the best of friends and are so excited with what's in store with Three Blondes currently and in the future. We hope for big things and have grand plans in mind!

Where do you look to for inspiration in your designs?
Everywhere - living in New York, some of the greatest inspiration comes from individuals walking down the street, store windows, landmarks. Our brand identity centers around the concept that the wearer is a chic, hip woman who is at the forefront of fashion and is a confident individualist in how she presents herself. A 3B necklace or headband is an added element that works with her overall look, compliments and represents her, plus serves as a conversation piece. Many of our pieces were inspired by great female icons of the past - style trendsetters who were not afraid to push the envelope. Many of our friends share that trait, and we even named some of our pieces after friends who inspire us and represent the 3B woman. Inspiration comes from everywhere: film, music, photography, interior design. In fact, we utilize crystals from real chandeliers and hope these pieces offer the same effect as a true chandelier - that extra element that instantly transforms a setting, sets a mood, and adds beautiful luxury and elegance to anything it touches.

What are your favorite pieces that you have created so far?
Within each category, we have a few favs. From our chandelier necklaces, we love love "The Bold" and "The Sparkle." Love our chandelier wrap bracelet, available with assorted ribbons. "The Gala" gloves in black and gold are a major fav since the black/gold color combo is something we've turned to for years. Similarly, "The Little Black Bow" necklace, simple gold wooden beads with a bow-tie closure, goes great with a little cocktail dress but could also be paired with jeans and a blazer. "The Icon" headband in both black and white styles is also versatile as it can be worn as a headband or wrapped around the wrist as a bracelet.

Who have you been most excited to see your jewelry on? And what celebrity would you most like to see in your designs?
We'd love to see our jewelry on those who have developed their own amazing and unique sense of style. The style icons of today who inspire the masses; girls who aren't afraid to go all out and be glamorous, daring, and original. It would be the ultimate compliment to see Alexa Chung, Georgia Jagger, Leighton Meester, Rachel Zoe, Alexandra von Furstenberg, Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen wearing a piece from the 3B collections. Of course, we hope to soon see ALL of our friends in NYC decked out in our designs. And you, too!

A huge thanks to Summer and Jen for the opportunity to check out their jewelry and chat with them! If you'd like to shop the designs of Three Blondes Jewelry, they are currently available online at ShopThreeBlondes.com, and at Clyde's Chemists at 926 Madison Ave (@ 74th Street) in NYC!

Erie Canal

Shirt from Goodwill, H&M floral dress, Hue tights from Marshalls, Jeffrey Campbell clogs,
Vintage bracelets, Forever 21 and vintage rings, Burberry sunglasses

Lately all of my days have been blending together. I've settled into a routine of waking up, drinking coffee, checking email (and getting sad about having no responses to my job applications), and bumming around. I clearly need a job, or at least some sort of direction in life. Isn't the economy supposed to be back on the upswing, or is that just a lie I've been telling myself?

Anyways, I'm always happy when I'm able to break out of the routine and go do something semi-exciting, like when the BF and I went to the Erie Canal the other day. The canal isn't filled yet, so the water level is really low and you can truly see how much garbage is in it, but it was still kind of beautiful in its own way. Plus there was a little boy feeding ducks with his mom, which I thought was absolutely adorable.

PS: Only 2 more followers needed until I post the giveaway!!

Currently Craving: Earthtones

Lydia lace dress from Nasty Gal; Cross and Dagger necklace from Rackk and Ruin; Deux Lux tassel bucket bag from Urban Outfitters; Caza platform clog from Free People; Turquoise stackable rings from Urban Outfitters; Jeffrey Campbell CLIP wedges from Lori's Shoes

As the temperatures get warmer and the sun light lasts longer, I've found myself transitioning out of my all black/white/gray winter uniform into a more tan/beige/brown one. Silver accessories are being switched out for bronze ones, and black leather for distressed brown leather. I'd call it a more "Coachella" style, but I am *so* sick of hearing about Coachella everywhere I turn!

I would have bought these Jeffrey Campbell CLIP wedges already, but I can't seem to find them on the Lori's Shoes website - could they already be sold out? I'll email and see what I can find out. Until then, the Free People Caza platform clogs are a pretty decent stand in!

And FYI, as soon as I reach 200 followers, I'm going to be having an amazing giveaway! So tell your friends - I just need 4 more followers before the contest will open!

Happy Birthday to The Outnet!

Did any of you partake in The Outnet's 1st birthday sale this morning? At 6:45am EST, emails were sent out to those who had signed up for the sale weeks ago, and within a few minutes all of the $1 designer items were sold out! After having stayed up all night, with the help of Twitter friends Martika and Dani, I was able to score the Marchesa dress pictured above for just $1 (originally $3160!!!). Let me know what you got, or if you weren't able to score anything, vent your frustrations over this ridiculously early flash sale - I want to hear your thoughts!

Beautyfix

I don't normally do makeup or beauty product reviews, so you know it has got to be something extra special for me to take the time to write up a whole post about it. And Beautyfix is indeed extra special! I'm sure a lot of you have already heard about Beautyfix, but if you are in the dark (like I was!), here's a basic rundown of what Beautyfix is and how it works.

Beautyfix is an exclusive beauty club dedicated to matching you with the perfect products for your face, hair, and body. All you have to do is log on to Beautyfix.com and answer a short questionnaire about your skin tone, eye and hair color, etc etc. The survey takes maybe 2 minutes flat, and then the Beautyfix team of experts comes up with a list of products that will work specifically for you. From the list, you get to pick several products yourself, and Beautyfix's team of experts picks a few products that they know will be perfect for you - and you end up with 8 full size products!

If you become a member at Beautyfix, you will be able to receive a kit like this 4 times a year, with new products specifically fitting your hair and skin needs. Normally, the kits cost $50, but the amazing people at Beautyfix have offered Breakfast at Saks readers an incredible deal! When you sign up for Beautyfix, enter the promo code BFIX4 to receive $30 off the price of the Beautyfix Spring 2010 kit - you will be able to test out the Spring products for only $19.99, plus free shipping! Also, once you try out the products, if you share your reviews of the products on Beautyfix.com, you will receive a $25 gift card to Glow.com!
Ok, now time for my review! Beautyfix sent me the Spring 2010 set for free, with products specifically fitting my profile of a light skinned, wavy brown haired, blue eyed gal. And boy did their panel of experts get it right! My Beautyfix kit came with everything you see above - Jonathan Brushable Lifting Spray, Pūr-lisse Daily Lip Nourisher, Chellá Enzyme Exfoliating Mask, Rosie Jane Eyeliner, iQ Derma Essentials Glacial Hydrating Gel Mask, iQ Derma Clear Remedy Acne Treatment Lotion, Decleor Paris Instant Radiance Moisturizer, Exuviance Rejuvenating Treatment Masque, and 2 Beautyfix makeup bags. Keep in mind, all of these products are full size, which was probably what shocked me the most when I opened the package - these products would be more than enough to last the 3 months until your next Beautyfix package arrives!

One of my favorite products was the
Pūr-lisse Daily Lip Nourisher. This Lip Nourisher is for all skin types, so you can pick this product no matter what your beauty profile (and I recommend you pick it!). The Pūr-lisse Daily Lip Nourisher is petroleum-free and formulated with fruit butters and vegetable oils, which honestly meant very little to me, but those fruit butters and vegetable oils work! Since I received this Lip Nourisher, I have been applying it morning and night as the box instructs, and my lips really have become softer, smoother, and much less dry. I could never get vaseline to work like that on my lips, so it really must be something about the natural ingredients! And FYI, this product on its own costs $22, while the entire Beautyfix Spring kit only costs $19.99 with code BFIX4!

Another product that I loved was the Jonathan Brushable Lifting Spray. I have wavy but fairly flat hair, and even when I hairspray my roots and blowdry, my hair still tends to fall flat in a few hours. But with this Jonathan spray, my hair stayed puffy way longer than it ever has before! I used this spray on dry hair, but you can use it when your hair is either dry or wet. All I did was flip my hair over, spray a little bit of this product around my scalp, run my fingers through my hair, and flip my head back up, and I already just about doubled the amount of volume in my hair - without a blowdrier or hairspray! In addition to the volume this product adds, it also smells amazing, and doesn't leave your hair feeling crunchy or greasy! Oh, and did I mention that on its own, Jonathan Brushable Lifting Spray costs $28? Yeah, Beautyfix is awesome, if you haven't already caught on!

If I haven't already convinced you, be sure to stay tuned for my reviews of all of the face masks, as well as the eyeliner and lotions. And be sure to at least check out Beautyfix.com to see all of the products they offer - and if you decide to become a member, don't forget to use code BFIX4 to get your first kit for just $19.99! Enjoy!

Get lost

Hollister sweater, Elizabeth & James tee, Target scarf, Forever 21 leggings and socks,
Vintage boots, Forever 21 cross + knuckle rings, Amrita Singh ring, Vintage rosary

I think I've been catching the travel bug from watching too many episodes of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - the BF and I are a little obsessed with that show lately. We've decided we need to go to Vietnam, Tokyo, Osaka, and Provence, as well as a billion other places. But until we save up enough money to do all that, maybe we can just start planning another trip to NYC? My birthday is coming up soon... (*hint hint* to the BF!)

PS: The winner of the Bluegala dress is the lovely Eyeliah of Style Symmetry - congrats and enjoy!

Wicked Plum Vintage

Wicked Plum Vintage is without a doubt my favorite Ebay store of the moment. And no, I promise I'm not getting paid to post this, nor am I getting free clothes (though I'd gladly accept them, lol!). I just recently became addicted to this store and wanted to share it with you all! They have gorgeous vintage pieces, detailed pictures (with amazing styling, kudos to whoever styles these shoots), and prices that start at $10. I've already bought a jumpsuit from them (pictures coming soon), and I have my eye on more than a few pieces ending soon. Gotta love the thrill of a last minute bidding war!

PS: Don't forget to enter to win a Bluegala dress! Ends this Monday!

Fog

Thrifted denim top from Goodwill, Current/Elliott jeans,
Jeffrey Campbell Charlie clogs, Vintage bracelet

Denim-on-denim, still not a look I'm 100% convinced works, but it's growing on me. I picked up this shirt at Goodwill the other day (just $2!), and I think I'm going to try to bleach it out, hopefully resulting in something like this. I'm not the best at DIYs, so wish me luck! And send along tips and tricks to successful bleaching, if you have them!

This leopard bracelet is my latest favorite piece of jewelry, and hasn't left my wrist all week. You can't tell in this picture, but it's fuzzy. So awesome.

The night we took these pictures there was fog so thick you could barely see a few feet in front of your face. The BF and I couldn't find a great way to pick up the fog in the pictures, but I wanted to post this last pic so you could get a feel for it. Very eery.

Canandaigua

Vintage dress, Matisse sandals, Burberry sunglasses,
thrifted and vintage jewelry, Balenciaga bag

Yesterday's temperature hit 90 degrees. Honestly, 90 degrees! In the beginning of April! It beat the record high in my city by 10 degrees. You best believe I've got summer fever now! In an attempt to cool down, the BF and I drove down to Canadaigua Lake.

The lake was absolutely gorgeous, and there was a really nice breeze rolling in off the water so the BF and I didn't get completely soaked in sweat while walking around. I think the heat was driving a few people to insanity though, as I saw more than one person jump into the lake completely clothed. I'm not sure how exactly they planned to drive home in soaking wet jeans...

What is it like where you live? Have you been experiencing this crazy heat wave? And what are you doing to keep cool?

PS: Happy Easter to all who celebrate!
