I'm not normally a bagaholic...

...but this Free People Chain Reaction bag has caught my eye. I have a thing for huge bags, because I tend to like to carry everything I own with me wherever I go. A bad habit, I know, but one I can't seem to break! This bag is 15 inches high and 11 inches wide, so I could definitely fit a lot in there! There's also a cell phone pocket along with a zip pocket inside, so it's easy to find smaller things like your lipgloss or keys. And check out the chain link overlay! It's made of iron circles linked together with straps of studded leather. So hot! This bag is definitely going on my must-have list (along with 100 other things... but this is at the top!). Check out this bag at Free People.

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture S/S 2009

This Couture collection by Jean Paul Gaultier has single-handedly renewed my excitement in fashion! I love how the collection was done mostly in black and whites, with splashes of vibrant color here and there. I love the strict, architectural shapes of some pieces, and how that contrasts with the flowy, ethereal gowns. I love the sheer mixed with the solid. I am just swooning, stuck in Couture heaven. I don't know when I'll be coming down!

My pictures are tiny, and definitely don't do this collection justice, so be sure to check it out at WWD or TFS. Check out all of the details, including the hairstyles and makeup - what a show!

What I'm Wearing: Party in the back

Shredded Tee- DIY Hanes
Tank (under)- Forever 21
Jeans- Steve & Barry's
Boots- Nine West Cuzza
Earrings- Urban Outfitters
Ring- from BF

I like to think of this tee as a mullet - business in the front...

...party in the back! I figured I spent so many hours meticulously tearing this shirt to shreds, it deserved some more wears. I'm also thinking about starting a new shredded shirt, this time with a strip in the front being shredded, more like this one by Raquel Allegra. I just have to put aside a million hours to work on it, which is tough because I'm trying to finish up my Winter Term project and get ready for next semester - my last semester of college! Busy, busy.

Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2009

Paris Couture Week rolls on, today with the Chanel Haute Couture S/S 2009 show. Lagerfeld opted for a white, pristine backdrop constructed with 4,000 meters of white paper folded into flowers (check out a better picture here). The backdrop complemented the paper headpieces worn by the models, which were painstakingly handcrafted by Japanese hairstylist Katsuya Kamo. The palette of the collection was entirely black and white, which some have already critiqued, but I think Coco Chanel said it best: “Black goes with everything. White also. They have absolute beauty. It is the perfect match."

Also stirring up a bit of controversy is that the final outfit in the collection was done with white pants, rather than an elaborate gown. The first picture above is the final runway piece. What do you think, is that look a bit of a letdown to end a Couture show with? I love the long train and the flower headpiece, but I'm also a sucker for giant Couture gowns, so I'm torn.

You can check out the entire runway show at
WWD, and then let me know what you thought of it!

Dior Haute Couture S/S 2009

Paris Haute Couture shows have begun with a bang, along with a "let them eat cake" mentality! There was definitely no sign of a recession today at the Dior Couture show. Here's what Galliano had to say about it:

Of course I’m sensitive to the economy. Of course I’m aware of it. I read the newspapers; I watch TV, but [dealing with it] is not my job. My job is to do the best I can to show the possibilities of Dior. When you’re standing in a hurricane, you have to keep your feet firmly on the ground. If you panic, whew…you fly away.
Check out the whole collection here, it is so very romantic and whimsical - I would love to have a Valentine's Day date that warranted the wear of one of the gowns above! Check out the intricate pleating and folds - there's nothing like Couture!

What I'm Wearing: Cousin Itt

Tee: Paul & Joe for Target
Skirt: American Apparel
Belt: Stolen from BF
Tights: Forever 21
Heels: Mossimo for Target
Bracelet: Guess

I kind of look like
Cousin Itt in the first picture, add a little top hat and it's perfect! Lol, anyways, I got a little dressed up this weekend, I wore actual lady-like high heels. I'm used to super clunky boots so it was a little weird getting used to walking in these. I felt so proper. I also think I've pretty much permanently stolen this belt from my boyfriend, I hope he doesn't mind. It's the perfect length for looping around a bunch of times.

Shoe Love: Nine West Ciraco

Even though they aren't being released until March 17, these sandals are taking over my every thought. I can't stop dreaming about the 5 inch wedge heel and the lattice-like straps with a peep toe, and all of the outfits these shoes would make 1000 times better. How hot would these look with floaty skirts in the spring and flowery sundresses in the summer? I love how bondage they are, and how the straps wrap a bit over the ankle. I'm not sure if I can wait almost 2 months to get my hands on these babies! But if you have more patience than I do, they are available for pre-order at Nine West, and come in brown and black.

Erin Wasson x RVCA February 1st

It's official, the Erin Wasson x RVCA line will be released February 1st and will be available at Barney's, Opening Ceremony, Ron Herman, and more! But I hope you've been saving your pennies, because this line is rumored to range from $50-$250, which is much higher than the average prices for RVCA clothes. As an Erin fan, I say these pieces are hot and worth the price, but if you don't mind scouring vintage shops I bet you could find very similar pieces for much lower prices. The line has a very '90s, grungy aesthetic, which I love, and is very Alexander Wang-esque (not shockingly). My personal favs are the flowered dress Erin is wearing in the ad above, the black Zeppelin top, and the white scoop neck tank she's wearing in the pic below. Check out some pictures of the collection below, along with an interview with Erin about her collaboration with RVCA:

An anniversary of sorts

Sweater- Urban Outfitters
Tee- Urban Outfitters
Black Skirt- Forever 21
Leggings- Pink Rose (Macy's)
Boots: Colin Stuart (Victoria's Secret)
Earrings- Urban Outfitters
Ring- from Boyfriend :)

Thursday was me and my boyfriends anniversary, 5 years and 4 months I think? Who's counting at this point lol! We didn't do much, we're going to go out on Friday (today!), I'm not sure what we're going to do but it will be fun! Just wanted to make sure to do an outfit post, even though it's nothing special and I'm obviously back to my old white/black/grey routine, it is tried-and-true. I really am trying to do the color thing, I just don't have much color in my wardrobe and I'm pretty broke right now, so I promised myself that as soon as I come into some money I will be all about the colors!

Skirts for Spring

Even though we have a while to go until Spring, lately I have found myself drawn to skirts and dresses that are made for warm weather. Right now, I have to wear them with thick tights or leggings, but I am awaiting the day that I can wear them alone with sandals and tanks! I am especially fond of colorful skirts, with thick brushstrokes and abstract designs, in shorter lengths. Check out some of my picks of skirts for the impending Spring season below - and let me know if you have found yourself stocking up for the Spring already, I know I have!

Forever 21- Shibuya Mon Amour

Forever 21 just posted some items from their new line, Shibuya Mon Amour, which is officially releasing this Friday. Shibuya Mon Amour was created by Satine Boutique owner Jeannie Lee. It consists of tees and tanks with nature-inspired prints, for prices ranging from $12-$18. The few pieces up on the site are pretty cute for the prices! The tees and tanks feature leopards, owls, cats, and bald eagles. They don't have that deer print shirt up yet, that the model is wearing above - I think that one is adorable. Check out the collection here!

Too Faced Confessions of a Shopaholic Palette

How cute is it that Too Faced cosmetics came out with a makeup palette in honor of the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic (which I can't wait to see)? Here's what Too Faced says about the palette:

Inspired by the film Confessions of a Shopaholic Too Faced has created the perfect beauty palette for the stylish girl on the go with places to go and shopping to do! This 15-piece make-up palette features a Beauty Addict's fantasy collection containing everything needed for glamorous movie-star lips eyes and face. Slip it into your pocket or purse for touch-ups on the town; you're sure to look ready for any shopping spree!
This palette is $29.50, and comes with 3 Eye Shadows, 2 Brow Powders, 2 Eye Liner Cakes, 3 Lip Glosses, 2 Concealers, Face Illuminator, Bronzer, and Blush. Whew, that's all a girl needs packed into one neat and adorable case! And since it's such a bargain, you'll have money leftover to do more shopping! The movie Confessions of a Shopaholic comes out on February 13, and it's sure to be a hit! Check out the trailer below.

Ann Demeulemeester Boots

I have recently become obsessed with these Ann Demeulemeester lace-up boots, ever since I saw them on the Saks website with another obsession-worthy piece, the Alexander Wang baggy sweater. How insanely hot are these boots? I love the lacing all the way up the boot, and how the laces wrap around the ankle a million times at the top. They seem difficult to put on, but once they're on I doubt you'll want to take them off. They seem like they'd be pretty comfortable too, as the heel is stacked and only 4 inches tall (I say only because I've been teetering around in 5+ inch heels lately and they are rough!). Of course, I'd need to get the Wang sweater too, because they just go so well together... there goes $1300!Pics from Saks

I like your style: Magdalena

Here's a candid shot of Polish model Magdalena Frackowiak, probably on her way to do something fabulous. I adore her giant fur vest and muted leopard-print skinny jeans. Of course, I don't have a model's bank account, but that's no problem because I went googling and found a bunch of look-alike pieces to recreate that supermodel-on-her-day-off style! Check them out:

Antic Beads Faux Fur Vest, $60 @Yes Style
(check out this option @F21 for just $25!)

Black 3/4 sleeve sweater, $20 @Forever21

McQ Alexander McQueen for Target - More Pictures Released!

As we found out wayyy back in November, Target will be working with McQ Alexander McQueen for an upcoming Target Designer Collaboration, releasing in March. And now we have some more pictures from the look book! I'm really excited about this collab, especially the grey denim jacket and the harness dress - oh, and check out the bikini, it looks so cute! I cannot wait until March! Seems like there will be lots of studs, dresses, and menswear-inspired womenswear. Check out even more pictures here.

Bumming around

I'm posting these pictures my boyfriend took because he thought they were very 'American Apparel', and he seemed really proud of them. I feel weird calling these outfit pictures, because I just wore this bumming around the apartment, and I'd like to think I would put on a skirt or a pair of pants or something before going outside. Especially since it's been -10 degrees for the past 2 days! Anyways, here I am fully embracing my New Year's resolution to wear more color. Well, at least when I'm not going out...
