Shopbop $100 Gift Card Giveaway with Ugg Australia Boots!

ugg australia boots
I love my readers, you all are the best. Thank you for taking the time to read my posts, thank you for the helpful, thoughtful, and funny comments, and thank you for following my blog (I have over 100 followers, that's just craziness! I love you all!). But sometimes a simple thank you just doesn't cut it. That's why I am giving one of you a $100 gift card to one of my very favorite online stores, Shopbop!

To enter: Tell me which pair Ugg Australia boots from Shopbop is your favorite and why. The best comment wins, so get creative! Let me know how you'd style them, where you'd wear them, all that good stuff :) This contest will run for 10 days.

I chose to focus on Shopbop's selection of Ugg Australia boots for this giveaway because I want to take away the stigma they have in the fashion community. Ugg boots are warm, comfortable, and a necessity in cold climates (like upstate NY!). And, there are some really cute styles to choose from at Shopbop!

So what's technically an Ugg Australia boot?
The name "uggs" or "ugs" actually existed even before there was an Ugg Australia brand. At first, uggs were worn by anyone needing to keep warm - from sheep shearers and aviators, to surfers and swimmers. The actual brand, as we know it, didn't debut until 1978 when an Australian surfer brought them to California.

How did Ugg Australia boots become so popular?
The boots slowly caught on at the beach, but Oprah made them famous when she gave hundreds away on her show. Then, Pamela Anderson wore them on "Baywatch", Samantha wore them on "Sex and the City", and Jessica Simpson sported a pair on an episode of "Newlyweds". Now they're everywhere.

Who else has them?
I have a couple pairs, and guess what? You can get a pair too, if you leave the winning comment! One winner will get a $100 Shopbop.com gift card good towards the entire online store. Just tell me which pair of Ugg Australia boots is your favorite and how you'd wear them. Get creative!

*

Inspired by this post from Lulu, I am going to take the blog in a different direction for a second.

"Most fashion blogs/ people/ personalities just seem so boring. "Be a real person!" I would say. Do you ever wonder if anyone feels anything beyond "Oh I covet this..."?" -Lulu
I realize the irony in writing this this directly following a "Currently Craving" post, but what can you do. I feel that I've been hiding the real me from this blog because I'm afraid of what happened to Lulu when she wrote about her breakdown a while back, and the harsh, critical comments that seem to be staples on other blogs.

I've only ever gotten one negative comment on this blog, and it was something about my hair being frizzy. That's it. So I guess I have always been playing it safe, being sure I never say or show anything that people can pick at or tear apart. But by doing that, this blog really has nothing to do with me. You could replace me with any other mainstream fashion blog reading, TFS-obsessed girl and the results would be the same.

So I guess what I'm trying to say in this tirade is that we all need to be ourselves, and not fall into the easy trap that I have of playing it safe and hiding who we are and how we feel for fear of banishment from our peers (or something like that?). And I'm going to try to take my own advice and reclaim this blog...

Currently Craving: Oh wouldn't it be lovely?

1. De*nada Eternal Knit Scarf
2. Kimchi Blue Mesh Dot Ruffle Top
3. Babooshka Boutique Lace Asymmetrical Draped Cardigan
4. Acne Belville Ankle Boot
5. Stolen Girlfriends Club Ground Floor Dress

Craving soft, delicate, lacy things, with a kick. Like the Babooshka lace cardigan - feminine yet rock and roll. Perfection. And I already have one de*nada eternal knit scarf, but this one in grey from Nasty Gal is calling my name... you can never have too many scarves!

Also, my obsession with floor length skirts and dresses continues... but hopefully I'll be able to control myself over this Stolen Girlfriends Club dress, because it's just a little bit out of my price range. But Christmas is coming... *hint hint* :)

***There's another amazing giveaway coming up in the next few days! I won't give it away, but it involves a gift certificate to one of my very favorite online stores! Get excited!***

Sienna

Hello, gorgeous! No matter what anyone says, Sienna will always be one of my ultimate style icons. She hits it out of the ballpark (almost) every time! What I would give to be able to play around in her closet for an hour or two...

Bloggers are taking over!!

I was browsing through the Free People website this afternoon and I stumbled upon the amazing boots above - called the "Bleach Black Boot" by Frye. Could this boot be inspired by the ladies of Bleach Black? I'm just speculating here, but it does look like something they would wear (also, I realize the boot is a black boot that has been bleached out... but work with me!).

And by now I'm sure you all have heard about the shoes for Urban Outfitters designed by Jane Aldridge of
Sea of Shoes - if not, check them out here, they're so so cute! Bloggers are taking over, and I'm loving it!

Feels like I'm falling for fall....

Dress: Target
Shirt: Thrifted
Boots: Vintage

Do any of you with small children watch Noggin/Nick Jr.? I've been babysitting my niece a ton lately, and she's addicted to the "Puzzle Time" guys that come on between shows - you know the song "It feels like I'm falling for fall"? It's been stuck in my head for weeks! Help!!

Also, I recently got a job! It's just doing retail in a big box store, apparel + accessories, but it isn't too bad. My coworkers are so great, and the store is fairly quiet, so I figure I can make some money this way while continuing to apply for jobs in NYC. Let me know if you hear of anyone looking to hire a Psychology/Sociology major!

Happy Halloween + a winner!

Dress: Target
Gloves: H&M
Sunglasses: Burberry

Take a wild guess as to who I was for Halloween... Holly Golightly, of course! I was having the hardest time deciding what to be, going from Cowgirl to American Apparel Ad to Lady Gaga (oh my gosh everyone was Lady Gaga!), but when I found this dress at Target it was decided - I *had* to be Holly Golightly! I already had the pearls and tiara and gloves, so it worked out excellently. What did you all go as for Halloween? And if you have pictures post links to them, I love seeing everyone all dressed up, it's the best part of Halloween (even better than the candy!).

And *drumroll please*... the winner of the Ella Moss tank from the Breast Cancer Awareness contest last month was... Jaime of La Vie... J'aime! Congrats Jamie! Check your email!
