Jazz music, reunions, and dancing

Tank: Hollister
Shorts: Siwy
Shoes: Nine West
Necklace: Margo Morrison

Ah, weekends. I wish they were longer! This was definitely a fun one. Friday night I went to the Jazz Festival with my BF to see the Eric Alexander Quartet. I don't really know much about jazz, but I thought the pianist, Harold Mabern, was ridiculously talented. He had performed with the likes of Nat King Cole and Oscar Peterson so I shouldn't have been surprised. Afterward the BF and I walked around downtown, got some drinks, took some pictures, and fun was had.

Saturday was the strangest. It was my 5 year high school reunion/cocktail party. I ended up chilling with a bunch of people who I hadn't seen in 5 years, getting drunk in the quad of our old school. Weird! Then we all went out to this random sleazy club and danced and drank more and bonded, it was kind of like no time had gone by at all. Of course now we've all gone back to our different corners of the world, some back to Boston, one all the way back to Norway (!!), but I hope we can all get together in another 5 years - but hopefully even sooner!

What were you all up to this weekend?

Moxsie Love: It's so LA!

Dress: Itsola, from Moxsie
Studded boots: Colin Stuart
Necklace: Margo Morrison

Have you guys heard of the new online shopping mecca Moxsie? I first discovered Moxsie on Twitter (it's an addiction, I swear!), and since then my birthday wishlist has tripled in length! Moxsie is the independent designer shopping destination, based in California. Moxsie has a team of style scouts whose job it is to "canvass every runway from L.A. to Paris and inspect every garment from trade shows in New York, Hong Kong and beyond". Wow, I definitely have job envy. These scouts handpick only the highest quality pieces that they find and those pieces are put up on the website for you to check out! Some brands that have lived up to Moxsie's high standards are Itsola (my fav!), Meggie jewelry (seen in my last Currently Craving post), and DimePiece (often featured on Nitrolicious' blog). Not only does Moxsie offer only the best of the best, they also donate a portion of each purchase to charity! During the checkout process you can choose the charity that you wish to donate to.

Anyways, Julia from Moxsie ever so generously sent me a package with this dress from Itsola- thank you Julia! It is seriously gorgeous in person. One hundred percent silk, fully lined, bright bold colors, and yes, pockets! I love it! It also has this cute tulip shape to it that you can't really see in any of the pictures I took. But I'm not the only one who gets gifts from Moxsie- Julia offered $10 off any purchase of $50 or more to any readers who sign up for the Moxsie newsletter (click here and scroll to the bottom to enter your email). Happy Shopping!

I loff you, two F's

Blazer: Ralph Lauren
Tank + Pants + Boots: Forever 21
Necklace: Margo Morrison

I finished all my midterms, hurrah! I feel like celebrating, except most everyone else is still working... and it's only 40 degrees outside... and it's Thursday... and technically I should be working on a lab that's due when I get back from Spring Break. But regardless, hurrah! I promise I am really happy and excited, despite the sourpuss look on my face in these pics. I only got maybe 4 hours of sleep last night because of work, so I'll blame it on that.

I know I have at least a few college girls and guys who read my blog, how are your exams going/how did they go? Hope you're all having a fabulous Thursday, just remember that Friday is right around the corner! And the sun is shining (at least in my little corner of Ohio), so soak up that vitamin D!

ps- 10 points and my forever love to anyone who recognizes the quote I used in the title of this post... it's from one of my favorite movies!

What I'm Wearing: Shades of Grey

Sweater: Urban Outfitters
White Thermal: Splendid
Grey Tank: LA Made
Skirt: Victoria's Secret
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Margo Morrison
Rings+Things: Forever 21, my BF

It went up to 50 degrees today, which is a heat wave for February in Ohio. So to celebrate, I wore a skirt with no tights or leggings! It felt so liberating. Of course, I still needed 3 layers up top and boots, but Spring isn't too far off!

Icicles

Tank/Dress- Gap
Tights- Marshall's
Boots- Colin Stuart (Victoria's Secret)

Necklace- Margo Morrison

It has snowed more than a foot in the past day, so I feel the need to tell you that I didn't wear just this outside. Add a couple sweaters, jacket, scarf, hat, and 2 pairs of gloves and you get a better idea of what I have to wear just to go check my mail. However, it is beautiful outside. I love fresh, clean snow before the cars drive through it and the trucks come through dropping salt and sand, when it is still perfectly white and untouched. And check out the icicles that were hanging outside the kitchen window this morning - one of them had to be more than 2 feet long! Winter is so lovely, well, everything except the temperatures.

I have also realized I need to add more color to the outfits I wear every day. It's not that I don't own anything in colors, I just seem to always stick to the white/black/grey palette, it's the easiest to match and just throw on before I leave the house. But I have resolved this year to embrace colors, and I aim to stick to that resolution! Any suggestions on how to ease color back into my wardrobe?

Parisian Perhaps?

Hat: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Necklaces: Margo Morrison + Heart Necklace from BF
Long Tank Top: Gap
Cardigan + Tights: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Nine West Cuzza

I had my boyfriend take a quick outfit pic before we left to go meet up with some friends for coffee and a movie. We saw Seven Pounds with Will Smith, which I absolutely loved, but it is really intense for basically the whole movie so I'm kind of exhausted. Also, I'm sorry about the red eye and the overall quality of a lot of the pictures I take, my camera is in the process of dying and I'm just too busy/poor to get a new one. As soon as I get back to school though I will be trying to teach myself how to use Photoshop! So expect me to be less red-eyed and possibly 10lbs lighter in future pictures (just kidding about the 10lbs... maybe?).

Margo Morrison Rainbow Moonstone Necklace

The day I left to go home for the holidays I received my Margo Morrison necklace in the mail. It is so beautiful, I just had to share it with you all! I won it from a Gossip Girl contest on CelebStyle (check the post here) - it is the Rainbow Moonstone Necklace that Blake Lively wore on episode 2 of season 2 of Gossip Girls (of course not the same one she wore - I wonder if she got to keep hers?). Anyways, it's absolutely stunning. These pictures do NOT do it justice! The stones are white, but they reflect the colors that you're wearing such that they take on different tones in different environments. Basically, this necklace goes with absolutely everything in my closet! Also, it's really long so you can drape it around your neck in a million different ways to create a million different looks. If you would like to check out more of Margo Morrison's one-of-a-kind jewelry, click here for her website - and get ready to drool!

Christmas Wish List

A while back, I wrote my dream Xmas list, which included some unreleased Balmain dresses and crazy-expensive shoes. However, since I am not Sarah Jessica Parker, I doubt I'll end up with any Balmain under my tree. So here's my attempt at a more reasonable Christmas wish list - well, at least (almost) everything is under $300!

Margo Morrison

I just found out that I won a Margo Morrison necklace from CelebStyle! I am so pumped! It's the style that Serena (Blake Lively) wore on Gossip Girl in the second episode of season 2, called the Rainbow Moonstone Necklace. So, since I knew nothing about the brand, I decided to do some research.

Margo Morrison grew up in Cleveland, OH (connections!), and is now located in NYC. She is a skilled pianist, journalist, and interior designer, in addition to being an incredible jeweler. She believes that "jewelery should not overpower a woman's natural beauty, it should simply enhance it". She uses semi-precious stones, pearls, and Swarovski crystals in order to create jewelery that "looks young and edgy on a 20-year-old, yet elegant and sophisticated on a woman of 60". Her collection includes necklaces, lariats, earrings, and bracelets, and is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend that you check out some of her designs at her website.
I have posted pictures of some of my favorite pieces below.
