Must Buy: Ankle Boots

So I've been obsessing about new ankle boots lately. I know I just bought tall grey boots from Target but those were only $30 so I still have some cash left. But, I never realized how hard it is to find cheap and cute boots! And by cheap I'm talking about $100-120 or less... of course, I'd prefer that they be leather and have some style to them, so maybe that is asking too much? Anyways, I found a few, but none of them fit the bill of being both cute and wearable through the long, wet winter. So the search continues...Nine West Cuzza, $110, in black, dark brown, dark grey, or natural leather
Out of the few boots that meet my criteria, these are a favorite. They were recently seen on the feet of Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, as a part of her new bad-girl style of dress, and they looked so hot! I'm just not sure I'd be able to pull them off without looking like I'm trying too hard to be bad-ass... I'm definitely not naturally a bad-ass! An added bonus is that all sale shoes at Nine West are an additional 20% off, making these just $88. I'm going to have to think on these, because they are an excellent deal - they were originally $149!

Griselda, $173, in black leather
These hot booties are from Italian Heels
, and I'm absolutely in love with the studded detail. I've been obsessing over studded boots ever since Mary-Kate and Ashley were spotted wearing their Christian Louboutin's. However, the heel is so small that I wouldn't be able to wear these around campus, or anytime I'd have to do much walking, and the shipping/handling from Italy to Ohio is insane. But if you love studs (like I do), check out Free People, there is a whole section of studded shoes on their website.
Seychelles Lou Bootie, $98, in black and grey leather
These are another option, the stacked heel allows for easier walking through snow and ice, while the buttons and antiqued leather make for a unique look. I'm just not sure how the leather will look in person - it has a high possibility of looking cheap, and who wants that when they're paying $100? However, if the leather looks nice, these will be high on my list of boots to buy. I'll have to try to find them in an Urban Outfitters store.

Jasper Ankle Boot, $148, in brown suede
Oh I love these so much! I love the stacked, curved heel, I love the buckle on the side, I love the runching, and I love that they would make me 4 1/2 inches taller without looking horribly uncomfortable! However, I don't really need another pair of suede boots, because they do not hold up well through snow and slush (even with waterproofing, I've never had much luck), and I was hoping to get black boots, and these don't come in black. I don't know, maybe I should give these a shot, they do make my heart all fluttery, and that's what fashion is all about isn't it?

I'll probably post more boot options later, but please leave comments on any ankle booties you have or want to have! I would love suggestions!

New Buy: F21 Headband

I went shopping for a few hours today and all I ended up with was this $2.80 headband from Forever21. But I am a happy shopper all the same! It sort of reminds me of Serena's headband in the season premier of Gossip Girl (except a lot cheaper and easier to wear!). Mine is a silverish color, but there seems to only be gold and black online. Super cute, and it doesn't slip at all because of the elastic in the back. I definitely recommend this, especially for less than $3! Why not buy it in every color?

Steve Madden Picks

I'm on a shoe binge! I can't get enough of shoes right now, and I find myself at the Steve Madden site more often than any other. No where else can you find such current styles for such good prices - especially when you join their email list and get 10% off your first order! So here are some styles I'm currently craving, in order of importance of course.
Lexxa in black or grey suede, $169.95. I'm really loving studs right now, especially on shoes and belts, and these combine the two with a belt-like studded strap around a shoe! Perfection.
Slasssh in black leather, $199.95. These have a hard edge biker feel mixed with a girly peep toe, and the contrast is (I hate to say it) fierce!
Merritt in bronze, black, cognac, or pewter leather, $139.95. I know, I know, enough with the peep toes, but I love them for the fall (and if you live somewhere warm, all winter!). If your toes start to get cold, you can pair any of these with colored tights for a fresh look.
Entrap in brown or black leather, $279.95. I love the height of these, and the straps that wrap around add extra oomph to an otherwise plain boot. A nice basic to pick up that won't go out of style anytime soon, but also won't leave you looking like everyone else.

Current fave: Grey boots

My new Target boots! I ordered them online a few weeks ago and was unsure about the quality/size/pretty much everything, but they came and I love em! They are kind of wide on my calves, but then again I have really small calves. Also, they are kind of a chameleon color, and in the pictures I took they tend to look more brown than grey.
Note the gap between the top of the boots and my legs- when I'm wearing jeans tucked in that gap goes away, but here I'm wearing leggings.I love the buttons on the side, and how they are slouchy and casual looking. You can't really tell here, but they have a tiny wedge heel, a little more than 1", which is great when you're short like me and every inch helps! And they're only $35! Add another $15 purchase and you'll get free shipping from Target.com. Happy shopping!

Shop Like a Gossip Girl or Boy at Bluefly (+coupon code)

Bluefly is currently running a promotion where you can shop for clothes worn by or inspired by the girls and boys of Gossip Girl! Awesome, right? Well, to make it even better, tons of it is 50% off! So I decided to check out some of the options.First up, Blair Waldorf. Here's the Nanette Lepore dress Blair wore last year in the episode "Blair Waldorf Must Pie". It comes in this color and black, both of which are completely adorable, and at 50% off there's no reason not to pick one up and channel your inner Blair this coming Thanksgiving.Just in time for winter, here's a Blair-inspired DKNY wool and cashmere long belted jacket. The winter white with the contrasting black belt is tres chic, and no one would have to know that unlike Blair, you got your jacket on sale.
Now onto Serena. Her online closet was mainly composed of skinny jeans, booties, and crazy prints, but I found a few sexy and wearable items. These Pedro Garcia python ankle boots scream Upper East Side bad girl, and I could definitely see Serena wearing these, especially now that she's back to her bad girl ways (yay!).Gold is a main color in Serena's wardrobe, and if you'd like to incorporate it into yours I'd recommend starting with these hot Nanette Lepore gold booties. They are so fresh and would inject some color and sparkle into any outfit.

The other character closets included are Jenny, Dan, Nate, and Chuck. Check them all out for some great deals. To make it a little more enticing, enter AFF20 during your checkout for an extra $20 off any purchase of $100 or more! You know you love me...

Welcome!!

Welcome to my blog! I decided to jump right in with the first post, documenting some of the stuff I'm consuming right now. I love clothes and fashion, and I will admit to being a slave to the consumer society I live in. So this blog is a tribute to all those girls and guys out there just like me! I will be blogging about my recent purchases, things I want to buy, things I suggest you all check out, and whatever else is relevant. I will be using my BF for a male perspective on consumption from time to time, but he is definitely not as big of a consumer as I am, so his posts will be fewer and far between. So I thank you all for checking out my blog, and please do come back as I will be adding more and more features as I go along. Onto the post...

1) I am in love with socks lately. I'm not sure if it's because it's starting to get cold and my feet are freezing but right now my feeling is the more sock the better! So of course these ridiculously high socks from American Apparel must be mine.

2) I wish I had the income for the Givenchy Gladiator bootie (check them out at Barneys, to die for), but I'm still in college and soon will be buried under debt, so these Steve Maddens will have to do for now.

3) Blame Blair Waldorf, she's brought back the cape! Whether you're an Upper East Side princess or not, I suggest you check out with this beauty from Tibi at Shopbop.

4) Grey skinny jeans may not be super-current, but they are definitely sticking around for a few more seasons. Check out the Rachel Skinny Jeans by William Rast, but if you can't afford them (I know I can't), Macy's has some great budget versions over here.

5) Again, not an exciting purchase, but you gotta have some basic v-neck tees to go with your skinny jeans, and where better to buy them then American Apparel?
