Happy 2012 dear readers! I'm writing this post on the long train ride back to NYC, looking out the window at a sea of white snow and reminiscing about the holidays. I hope you're all doing well, and I wish you all the best in the new year!

Here are just a few pictures from the past few weeks in Manhattan and Rochester - lots of Christmas lights, early new years parties (with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots!), and merry-go-round rides with my niece. How did you celebrate the holidays?

I took these pictures over the course of a day in the life of an unemployed NYC girl (but hopefully not for much longer!). After messing around taking pics in the hallway of our apartment building, the BF and I decided to walk downtown to check out the Christmas decorations in midtown -- this may or may not have been a horrible decision considering I was wearing 6-inch-high heels. Still, Manhattan is beautiful this time of the year, and the Christmas lights were (almost) enough to make me forget the pain in my feet!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm finding it more than a little difficult to get back into my old routine after going home for the holiday - all I want to do is run around with my niece and watch movies in bed late at night. Luckily, the beautiful weather (it was 70 degrees yesterday!) and the ever growing number of Christmas decorations and events around the city are helping to break me out of my slump. I love this time of the year, especially when it isn't accompanied with a foot of snow!

Sorry to say I have no update on the job situation from my previous post, but I do hope the interview(s) went well. I really think I need to invest in more professional clothes, I've been wearing the same blazer to every interview and clearly it isn't working out too well for me! What do you guys wear to job interviews? I need some fresh ideas!

Also, I'm getting super excited for Thanksgiving! I'm going home for the first time since I moved down to NYC six months ago, and I miss my family (especially my baby niece) SO much! I can't wait to gorge out on turkey and mashed potatoes and watch Caillou. Oh and I'll definitely be going thrifting, I had no idea how amazing the prices were upstate until I moved to New York - definitely a positive of living in the middle of nowhere!

The ultimate lazy day outfit, complete with elastic-waist pants and a droopy cardigan. Perfect for watching movies in the afternoon with a giant cup of coffee, eating one of these bad boys (a recipe even I couldn't mess up!). Add a cozy blanket (still searching for this Missoni throw) and a turband (no hairwashing necessary), and that's my formula for the perfect lazy day!

PS - I'd be lying if I said this post wasn't inspired by Lazysuits, the most ridiculous invention in the world that I still might actually want...

Fall is finally here! I love when there's a chill in the air, the leaves start changing colors, and I can finally break out my favorite leopard maxi dress! Of course it's about 6 inches too long on me (another drawback of being short), but that just necessitates the wearing of my favorite shoes as well. If this outfit was appropriate to wear everywhere, I would!

Also guys, don't forget that tomorrow is 11-11-11! I'm not sure what that signifies but I hope it's something good - I have a job interview that day for a position I desperately want, and I need all the good omens I can get!

Hi guys! I'm still in NYC, yay! I found an apartment on the UWS and moved in about two weeks ago (Zabar's Zombies!). I went from a furnished sublet to an unfurnished apartment, and I've been devoting all of my free time to finding furniture and trying to make this new place my home. I would love any tips on where to look for cute and cheap housewares!

Also, I've been interning at Lovelyish, the Xanga fashion and pop culture blog. I write eight to ten articles per week for them, and it's definitely the most fun I've ever had in an internship! I'm also toying with the idea of applying for grad school next year, but that's still very much up in the air...

So what have you all been up to? I miss you guys! I just got internet installed in my new place so I have plans to spend much of this weekend reading all of your blogs and catching up on your lives!

The race to find a new apartment is on! I only have 6 days until I have to move out of my current sublet so I'm getting a little frantic about finding a new housing arrangement. I probably should've settled on something weeks ago, but I've discovered I'm a very picky house hunter...

One of the places I would *love* to live is Long Island City. The BF and I visited the other weekend and took 10000 pictures of the view - it is incredible. We also had a delicious brunch with never ending mimosas which definitely helped us have an amazing time! I hope this post isn't too picture-heavy, I am kind of obsessed with the New York skyline!

The BF and I stumbled upon the Cathedral of St. John the Divine by Columbia University this weekend while looking for a place to eat our Hungarian pastries (so good!). In a garden next to the cathedral was the statue pictured below, the Peace Fountain. The Peace Fountain celebrates the triumph of Good over Evil, and "sets before us the world's opposing forces—violence and harmony, light and darkness, life and death—which God reconciles in his peace." I thought this was a good message, especially today.

Hey East Coast-ers, how are you guys doing after Hurricane Irene? Manhattan managed to get by with very little damage, but I know other places got it much worse than us. I hope you're all ok!

I took these pictures on Sunday afternoon when we were still getting giant gusts of wind from the hurricane. It was pretty intense down on the Hudson River, the waves were bigger than I've ever seen them! There was also a few tree branches that had fallen down, but all-in-all the Upper West Side escaped pretty much unscathed. The question now is, what am I going to do with all of these flashlights and gallons of water I've stockpiled?

I also want to draw your attention to the shirt I'm wearing - it's the Sevier Blouse from WISH's summer collection titled "Smokey Shadows". WISH is an Australian brand that has been around for 10 years, but only recently came to the US. I snapped a few pics while in Soho for the Alexander Wang sample sale this past weekend. It was my very first sample sale, and soooo crazy and overwhelming! I only ended up buying a blazer, but I learned a ton about sample sales - mostly that if you see anything you even vaguely like, grab it and never let it go! Or just shop online, because the deals are just as good on ebay and it's much nicer to shop in your PJ's and not get trampled by deal-seeking models in stilettos, lol...

It has been so long since I've done a Currently Craving post! I haven't had the time to sit down and go through my favorite online stores in way too long, so there was a lot to choose from to crave this week. Luckily one of the items above I am no longer craving, because the lovely people over at Misikko sent me a Hana Air Premier Hair Dryer to try out! The Hana hair dryer is lightweight, easy to handle, and works quick - which is necessary for someone like me who doesn't have more than 10 minutes to spare styling my hair! It has a bunch of different settings, both hot and cold, so if you don't want to fry your hair with hot air you can choose a cooler setting (or if it's 100 degrees out and you can't handle blowing even hotter air on your head!). This hair dryer is definitely the best one I've used, and I recommend it if you're in the market for a new one.

On to fashion, I am currently *way* obsessed with these Jeffrey Campbell Right On wedges, which come in black and white or solid black (and probably soon in every color and pattern you can imagine - just like the Lita's). I can't imagine that they'd be very easy to walk in, but I'd manage the pain! And the Alexander Wang bag was spotted on Eva Chen's Tumblr, which you must follow if you don't already. She's the beauty editor at Teen Vogue and one of the chicest people I've seen on Tumblr! While you're at it, follow my new Tumblr too if you'd like!

Summer is definitely here! How are my fellow New Yorkers dealing with this insane heat? It's supposed to hit 103 degrees tomorrow, and I have no plans for leaving my air conditioned apartment! I can use the time out though, I've been running around like crazy these past few days. I saw Questlove DJ at a party in the Lower East Side, thrifted in Brooklyn, ate a burrito from the Korilla BBQ truck for the first time (delicious!), and almost got conned into a creepy psych study at Columbia University (they wanted to give me tranquilizers mixed with alcohol... um, no thanks). So a few days off is sounding nice right about now!

I'm sorry I've been such a bad blogger this month - between my internship, trying to see absolutely everything there is to see in this city, and applying for jobs, I barely have time to sleep! In the past few days I've met with the lovely PR ladies from Nicole Miller and nicole by Nicole Miller (check out those leopard beauties above!), previewed holiday goodies at the ABPR showroom, got lost in Bed-Stuy while trying to find a bar in Brooklyn, and ate an unhealthy amount of greasy food cart food. These pictures were taken the other day on the High Line in Chelsea. The High Line is a park built on a former abandoned raised railroad line. It's soooo beautiful there, you have views of the Empire State Building and NY skyline on one side and the Hudson River on the other. Also, it doesn't hurt that there is amazing shopping on the streets below. I definitely wouldn't mind moving down to Chelsea after my lease is finished!

The BF and I have been busy exploring our new neighborhood - today we wandered uptown around the Columbia University area, shopped at a farmer's market, and stumbled upon a turtle pond in Morningside Park! There was literally about 50 turtles in the pond, it was the cutest thing ever.

I also started my internship this past Thursday, and I'm loving it so far! I get to work surrounded by hand-sewn and beaded couture gowns worn by celebs including Carrie Underwood and Beyonce. I'll definitely let you all know if I have any celebrity spottings in the office!

I'm in New York! Despite a few drawbacks (*cough* cockroaches), I'm SO thrilled to be in the city! My first full day here was also my birthday, and we spent our time exploring Central Park (which was PACKED with people) and eating at the cutest Mexican restaurant equipped with their own mariachi band. Today we explored our neighborhood a little bit more, walked through Riverside Park, and of course shopped! Goodbye Rochester

Only two days left upstate before I make the move down to Manhattan! As much as I always hate on my little city, it's the only place I've ever called home, and I will definitely miss it.

It's official - I'm moving to NYC on Memorial Day weekend! I'm sorry that my blog has been so sparse these past few weeks, but it has been so much more work to plan this move than I ever thought it would be! Finding a decent sublet for the summer was almost impossible, and I'm so so lucky I stumbled upon a gorgeous, clean, quiet studio on the Upper West Side. Now I'm trying to figure out what to pack... and that part isn't going so well! Any tips on packing for a 4 month (maybe more!) stay in one of the most fashionable cities in the world? And if you're from NY, I'd love any tips on where to shop and eat too!

The weather is so bipolar lately! Sunny one day, snowing the next. But I'm pretty sure I talk about the weather wayyyyy too much on this blog.

This past weekend was one of the best in a while - for shopping! I scored a $2 Miu Miu dress, won a free pair of Hudson jeans on Twitter, and found and bought my new favorite shorts with the Lord & Taylor Friends and Family discount. I think I'm set on clothes for a while! So of course I've moved on to shoes. Currently lusting after these tribal print sandals from Free People and the perfect ankle boots by Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony. Here's hoping I can find some ridiculous discount for those babies!

I think I need a new pair of sunglasses. I have classic Ray Ban wayfarers and square-lens Burberry's, but I'm really craving a vintage-inspired pair like the ones above. I love the shape of the lenses and the two-tone color gradient - the only problem is choosing which color gradient! They come in violet too, which I'm also kinda loving.

Hi guys! First off I want to thank you all for your styling tips for my ebay-ed dress, I can't wait to try them out! Love you guys :)

I wore this outfit the night before my BF's birthday when we went out for celebratory Indian food. You've seen the H&M sweater/jacket before here, but I think it's the first time I've posted the crochet top from Hollister. I remember I found this top squished in the very back of one of those clearance shelves in Hollister, marked only $5 - I couldn't believe it! Definitely one of my favorite mall-store buys. These Jeffrey Campbell Nation boots are quickly becoming my staple shoes, they are remarkably comfortable and each time I wear them they mold to my feet more and more. If you're on the fence about buying them, I recommend you go for it!

I just won this sheer gauze dress on ebay from one of my favorite stores, Funkin' Junkie Vintage. It's peach color with a touch of embroidery around the top and a flowy silhouette - a pretty great blank slate piece. But I'd like to ask you all for your advice. How would you style this dress? Would you play up the bohemian aspect of it and add turquoise jewelry, a floppy hat, and some giant wooden platforms (like Funkin' Junkie)? Or would you go more of an Alexa Chung route and add a structured bag and mary janes? I'd love to hear all the ways you guys would style this basic dress - mostly because I'm broke and I'll have to be wearing it over and over all summer long!

I've been working on a blog redesign these past few days - how do you all like it? I thought the links at the top made for easier navigation and cleaned up the sidebar a little bit, but I'd love your input! Please let me know if you have any suggestions for how to streamline the blog even more!

So while I was working on the redesign, I was also doing a little online shopping (as always!). I've been in love with these Joes platforms - or are we calling them "flatforms"? - since I first spotted them on Solestruck, and the obsession has remained. I'm thinking I'll have to find a way to get these shoes into my closet before the Spring, along with a suede skirt. I'm hoping the skirt is something that can be thrifted, but we'll see! I did pick up a nice Alexander Wang-esque sweater while thrifting last weekend, so anything is possible!

Today I received the Free People January catalog in the mail and promptly spent over an hour marking down everything I need to have from it, which includes pretty much the entire catalog. Finally some real snow pictures! I had no idea how hard it was to take pictures while it was snowing though, my cheap little camera kept focusing on the snowflakes so these pictures turned out a little blurry. But practice makes perfect, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop snowing for a while so the BF and I should have more than enough time to perfect taking pictures in the snow!

Happy New Year, I hope you all had a great New Years Eve! I kept it low-key this year, the BF and I ordered takeout Indian food and watched TV all night. I was watching Almost Famous last night (it's on youtube, watch it before they take it down!), and it got me thinking. My main resolution this coming year is going to be to whittle my wardrobe down to a few key pieces that would all fit in a suitcase if needed. I have wayyyyy too many clothes and shoes (especially shoes!) that just sit in my closet collecting dust, and they should go to people who would wear and love them!

I took these pictures right before the first huge snow storm, so these will probably be the last snow-less pictures for a while! I'm wearing my Motel jacket I won from demiCouture a few months back (thanks Victoria!) and my Mossimo boots, which I've been using as a stand-in for my dearly departed Uggs. They aren't as comfortable as Uggs, but I have to admit they do look a little nicer. Also, my arms are wrapped around me in every other picture because it was freeeeeezing at the beach this day, even with a sweater and jacket on! Winter has definitely arrived!

Uggs are a divisive boot - you either love 'em or hate 'em. As an Upstate New Yorker who has to endure around 6 months of ice, slush, and snow every year, I am an Ugg-lover. That's why I was so upset the other day when I discovered a hole in the toe of my trusty old boots. What should I do now? The first snow of the year is scheduled for later this week and I don't know if I should buy another pair of Uggs or try to find a different, less-comfortable-but-more-stylish winter boot? What shoes do you all wear through the slush and ice of winter? Or are you lucky enough to live where there is no snow (and if so, can I come visit you this winter?)

Check out the fuzzy earmuffs I scored at TJ Maxx the other day! Currently sold at Bloomingdales for $85+, I payed only $30 at TJ Maxx! They are the softest and warmest things ever, and don't mess up my hair the way all of my winter hats do. It's safe to say I'll be wearing these all winter long!

It was probably 40 degrees and windy when the BF and I took these pictures by the bay last weekend, but for some reason I thought I didn't need a jacket? So excuse my frozen body and clenched teeth in these photos, I was not at all prepared for the weather! But I guess it's winter now, time to bust out the long wool jackets and elbow-length gloves, and prepare for the first snow!

So here is what I bought on my trip to Marshalls - this tan floppy hat by Jessica Simpson. As seen in black on Rumi and Karen, I knew it had to be mine the second I placed it on my head. It has the perfect amount of floppiness, is loose enough so that it doesn't leave horrible hat-hair when removed, and is the perfect weight for all seasons! I can't wait to pair it with my favorite chunky sweater and some over-the-knee boots (still searching for the perfect pair of those...). I'm thinking I might have to make a trip back to Marshalls this week to buy it in black too! Oh and also, the hat does come with a felt flower attached to it, but it was easily removed with just two snips of the scissors. That's about as DIY-y as I get lately, haha!

Can you believe this lace maxi skirt is from Forever 21? It looks almost exactly like ones I've seen at Nasty Gal and Free People for $100+! Of course, the Alexander McQueen four-finger ring isn't quite so budget-friendly, but I mean, look at it. It's gorgeous. Definitely crave-worthy! The Olivia Harris fur bag hurts the PETA-part of my heart, but if it was faux-fur I would buy it in a second. Have any of you seen anything similar-looking in faux fur?

Also, I know Jeffrey Campbell shoes are showing up in every other post on my blog lately, but I just can't help it - I'm a full-fledged addict! And I desperately want the Lita's in just about every color they come in. Have you seen the blue suede ones? *swoon*.

I'm sorry I haven't been the best blogger lately, I've been trying to soak up every last second of sun and degree of warmth while it's still around! So that meant going down to the lake this weekend for one last dose of German food and 32oz beers, and a walk along the pier. I always love checking out the semi-dilapidated boat houses that are covered in spider webs (that part freaks me out a bit, to be honest). And I had to take my H&M leopard maxi dress out for a spin! If you follow me on Twitter, you'll remember that I was frantically searching every H&M store within a 100 mile radius of my house for this dress, and it finally showed up when I had just about given up hope of ever finding it! So I'm sure I'll be wearing this dress at least once a week, until everybody starts calling me the leopard-girl... and probably still then, too.

Happy October everybody! It's the month to drink apple cider, snuggle up in giant sweaters, and carve pumpkins! In honor of the first weekend of October, the BF and I went to our favorite farm market and stocked up on cider and fried cakes - maybe not the best for my diet, but how could I resist?

Also, I am sooo excited to show you all my new sunglasses! I've never owned a pair of Ray Bans before, so when ShadesDaddy.com contacted me to review a pair I was absolutely thrilled! Long Week

I have never been more glad to have the time to sit down in front of my computer with a giant cup of coffee and write a blog post! This past week has been so tiring, full of emotional highs and lows. There were celebrations and there were memorial services. Meeting new people and saying goodbyes. Driving and unhealthy food and not enough coffee...

I'll focus on a positive right now. Last Wednesday, the BF and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary (please, don't ask when we're getting married, we got enough of that, ugh!). We drove down to the lake, ate delicious German food and drank German beers out of *gigantic* glasses, and walked around the cute little stuck-in-the-1940s lake town. I love towns like that, ones that haven't yet been taken over by McDonalds and Starbucks, and still have that Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow feel to them - I could definitely see myself living in a tiny town like that, at least a few months out of the year.

But now that I'm back to reality, I have time to catch up on all of the runway shows! Which were your favorites? Which were the craziest? I'm also going to catch up on all my blog reading this afternoon, I really miss you guys and can't wait to see what you've all been up to this past week!

The other night, out of nowhere, the power went out. No TV, no internet, no lights, nothing... for 4 whole hours! You never realize how dependent you are on technology until you are forced to be without it! In the absence of anything to do, the BF and I wasted some time doing a little impromptu photoshoot featuring my newest pair of Jeffrey Campbell's, the Lita platform boots. How many of you all have either bought or preordered the Lita's? If you haven't yet, I *highly* recommend them - they are made of soft leather, add over 5 inches to your height, and are honestly, pinky-swear, hand-to-god amazingly comfortable! Just a quick post to let you all know that I survived the state fair! And not only did I survive, but my BF won me a giant Hello Kitty! He won it on the crossbow game, he got the arrow exactly in the center of the middle ring which was quite an accomplishment after a few beers!

I know NYFW is going on, but I'm choosing to ignore it for now because I'm pretty bummed I'm not in the city for it. Fashion's Night Out is tonight - are any of you all celebrating? I think I'll do my part by shopping online in my PJs, haha!

Lastly, yay for Fall!! I finally got to bust out my shearling-lined Jeffrey Campbell boots and a wool jacket last night, and I couldn't be happier! :D

There are free beer and wine samples, which are *always* great, but other than that it's just a bunch of farm animals, butter sculptures, and overpriced fried foods. However, I always love going to Syracuse, and I heard an Urban Outfitters just opened in Armory Square so I'm definitely excited to check that out!

Tonight the BF and I went to an Indian restaurant, ordered wayyyyy too much food, stuffed our faces until we both felt a little dizzy, and still had 3 boxes of leftovers to bring home. I'd call it a successful dinner! And in case you were wondering, my diet is going great, thanks! Haha :)

Afterward, we stopped by a little bar near my house, watched the end of a singing/guitar playing college kid's performance, and consumed even more calories. We were able to snap a couple shots between beers, I'm not sure if they're blog-worthy but I kinda liked how vivid the colors came out.

Gossip Girl is back September 13th! Can you wait? I definitely can't, I'm such an addict - I've watched the Season 4 trailer at least 100 times since it was released last week. Sacre Blair! Dan au pair! And most importantly, vive le Chuck!!

Predictably, I'm already craving everything Blair Waldorf is wearing in the 1-minute trailer, especially the nowhere-to-be-found-online Moschino Cherry-Print dress from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. But even if I could find it somewhere (anywhere!), I don't have the $4000 laying around to buy one dress... *le sigh*!
